Short: Replacement RAM disk Author: caffer@cs.ucc.ie (Neil Cafferkey) Uploader: caffer cs ucc ie (Neil Cafferkey) Type: util/sys Version: 1.9 Architecture: m68k-amigaos >= 3.0.0 AmberRAM is a replacement for the AmigaDOS RAM disk. Like the original, it is non-block-oriented and dynamically sized. Advantages over the official AmigaOS 3.9 RAM disk: - Faster. - Provides accurate information about space utilisation. - Isn't always 100% full. Free memory is included in disk size. - More space efficient. - Allows deletion of hard-linked, non-empty directories (the directory contents are preserved, as the link is converted into a real directory). - Can be write protected. - Can be properly dismounted (resources are freed). Disadvantages: - "Volume full" requester is never displayed. - Directories can't be created from Workbench under AmigaOS 3.0 or 3.1. - Record locking is unsupported. This package is released under the GNU Lesser General Public Licence. Changes in this version: - Fixed null-pointer accesses that occurred when a notification reply was received after EndNotify() had been called. - Fixed bugs related to reading and writing a file at the same time. - Files that are protected from deletion can no longer be overwritten with a new file of the same name. - Changed default volume name from 'RAM Disc' to 'RAM Disk'. - Changed licence from GPL to LGPL.
