                       "Arcturian Starliner"

------------------------------------------------------------------------
       (c) 1997 by Robert W. Owens email: robo@sccoast.net

This is a 3D-rendered scene of an Arcturian Starliner passing by
the planet "Trebor IV", located near the "Enyaw Snewo Nebula" (as seen
in the background).

This scene was rendered on an Amiga 500/030/40mhz with 7 megs
total Ram, using Imagine 3.0 from Impulse Inc. It took about 9 hours
to render, but MONTHS of on-and-off effort to develop all the elements
that resulted in the final image. This image was 100% created by me
(Robert Owens). I created all the models, image maps, backgrounds, etc.
No outside sources were used in the creation of this image, so I take
all the credit (and all the blame) for the final result.

This is actually a rendered scene of an animation I am currently
working on. In the animation, the Acturian Starliner is attacked by
enemy fighters while being pursued by enemy cruisers.

The reason this image was rendered at 640 x 320 resolution was
because I was going for a "letterboxed" effect (similar to how
widescreen movies are often displayed on video). This not only gives my
image a touch more "class" (in my opinion), it also cuts down on the
rendering time. The MAIN reason for the letterbox effect, though, is
because the animation I am working on uses letterboxing to cut down on
the animation "deltas," thus speeding up animation playback! In
actuality, the Arcturian Starliner looks much more impressive when
animated!

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy this image! Send me your comments,
suggestions, hate mail, or fan club applications at the email address
listed above. You can also occasionally (not often) find me on IRC,
where I am known as "Trespassr" on the Dalnet #Amirc channel.
