OVERVIEW

hbatchnews is a replacement for batchnews. It's main adavantage is the use
of an alternative BETTER compressor such as gzip, which will save you about
20%-30% of phonecosts compared to compress(ed) batches.

The new release of uucp1.17 by M.B. Smith features an rnews which will
allow to use any decompressor as an option.

This rnews can also be used with older uucp-versions.

Why should you use hbatchnews?
Well gzip compresses news far better than the standard compress. You save
pure money and may instead spend it for beer.
