Short: Moviedb with GUI Author: Django@baud.de (GUI) / col@imdb.com (moviedb) Uploader: Goja baud de Type: misc/imdb Version: GUI Summer2003 / moviedb 3.22 Requires: /misc/imdb/#?list.lha Architecture: m68k-amigaos This is the offline version of the internet movie database, including a graphical user interface. To use it, you have to download the listfiles and copy them into the "moviedb-3.22/lists" directory. Look at http://www.imdb.org/interfaces/ for the "plain text data files". Thats 237.4 Mb total gzipped, which expands later to 735,01 Mb. There are listfiles inside Aminet directory misc/imdb, but they seem to be outdated. Moviedb can work with the compressed files, but I chose not to compiled it to support that, so you have to unpack them with "gzip -d moviebd-3.22/lists/#?" The directory moviedb-3.22/bin contains 3 Different Versions of the executables .040 : for 68040 CPU's and Amithlon .060 : for 68060 CPU's .060ns : for 68060 CPU's but without automatik Stack extension, maybe faster, but could crash, if you set the stack to low. How much Stack? I simply dont know! This is only experimental!!! You have to rename the executable to your needs. (remove the .extension) When you click on the Icon you get a Shell, as not everything is complete in one Programm. From here you can type: Make-Database : to build the database. Without building the Database you can not use moviedb! Should not last longer than 7 hours on a 68060/50 :-) The Database needs another space on your Harddisk of about 400Mb! Delete-Database : In case you want a clean Directory, for example befor you do a Make-Database with updated Listfiles. GUI/MDBG : the GUI from Django@baud.de In this Version you have to manualy copy the included prefs-files to envarc:mui/ ApplyDiffs: Instead of downloading the complete listfiles, everytime there is a updated version, you can download only the diffs and apply them with this programm (the diffs are, where you get the listfiles from) CheckCRC: Included with ApplyDiffs. Read the documentation for ApplyDiffs. It is maybe a wise idea to use this on a SmartFilesystem partitition, in case of a crash and for the speed. Included is the Documentation for moviedb in AmigaGuide format, if you want to acces the MovieDatabase with shell-commands. Also included is the Sourcecode of movieb and ApplyDiffs in case you can do it better. The only changes I made to moviedb is to shorten some filenames of the database to fit into the 30 caracters of FastFilesystem and compiled it wit stack extension. PPC Version, anyone??? ps. dont write to col@imdb.com, he is not responsible for these executables!
