WHAT IS LYNX?

Lynx is a fully-featured World Wide Web (WWW) client for users running
cursor-addressable, character-cell display devices such as vt100 terminals,
vt100 emulators running on Windows 95/NT or Macintoshes, or any other
character-cell display. It will display Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)
documents containing links to files on the local system, as well as files on
remote systems running http, gopher, ftp, wais, nntp, finger, or cso/ph/qi
servers, and services accessible via logins to telnet, tn3270 or rlogin
accounts. Current versions of Lynx run on Amiga, Unix, VMS, Windows95/NT,
   386DOS and OS/2 EMX.

Lynx can be used to access information on the WWW, or to establish
information systems intended primarily for local access. Lynx has been
used to build several Campus Wide Information Systems (CWIS). Lynx can
also be used to build systems isolated within a single LAN.

NOTES:
      - requires 68020+/os2.04+/2 megs+/ixemul48+/ixnet48+/amitcp30b2+

      - requires also, terminfo database, u can download full db from:
        ;
or cropped one(most common terminfos) form:

      - uses latest version of 'slang' instead of 'ncurses', this has some
advantages like: speed, speed and speed + 'vcon' friendly.
if u tend to use it thru telnet and stuck on 80x25 terminal
try to change these variables: LINES, COLUMNS

      - if u experience problems with saving downloaded files try Unix like
        paths, not 'ram:titsofmrsjohnson.jpg', but '/ram/titsofmrsjohnson.jpg'.

      - pick some text editor and study & customize 'lynx.cfg' that can
        be found in 'usr/local/etc/'.

      - consumes something about ~35 kilos of stack.

      - no ssl, executable would be too big and not really usable.

      - my palette when using 'amiga-f' + 'screenshell':
        ;
        COLOR:0:white:black
        COLOR:1:red:black
        COLOR:2:black:cyan
        COLOR:3:green:white
        COLOR:4:white:blue
        COLOR:5:green:black
        COLOR:6:yellow:black
        COLOR:7:cyan:black
